Reviews for Head Flexpoint Radical
The polish can fly, didn't you know?
I currently use this oversized raquet together with the Luxilon Big Banger ALU Rough strings, which was Agassi's combination for a little while. Although I was never a big fan of oversized racquets, I felt at home with the control this racquet provided. Although it is fairly heavy compared to some of the other racquets on the market (12 oz), you don't quite notice it while you're playing. In fact, it actually feels pretty solid yet manuverable, unlike some of those 'light as a feather' racquets that you feel will blow away in the wind.
The main thing you'll notice when playing with the racquet is that it'll feel very solid in your hands, and it simply cuts through the ball very easily with very little support. This means that if you play with a one handed backhand, you'll achieve much greater support form that extra weight. In addition, volleys are much more supported, and give you that extra control. You may think -- hey, with that extra weight, will I be able to manuever it quickly? Yes, you will. Absolutely yes.
Another thing I noticed is that when you hit the ball in the sweet spot, you'll really feel that nice pop. It really gives me a smile on my face every time I play with this racquet, which is what tennis is all about.
Although the ALU rough strings deserve their own review, I've really come to like the response I get with them and my top spin. It has been about a year since I switched to the semi-western grip to improve my top spin, and boy I couldn't be happier with this string and this racquet. I think this is a good combination with this racquet because it gives you that little extra spin to keep the ball down. Otherwise, you might be hitting a little wide.
The only bad thing about the racquet is that it comes with white grip -- fantastic. After a couple of games, you'll basically have a brown/gray grip :) That's ok though, because color doesn't help with your swing too much!
