The polish can fly, didn't you know?

Wow, it was like love at first sight. At first I was contemplating between the Gary Fisher Kaitai and this bike, but I ended up going with the Trek for a few reasons. First off, the look of this bike is just awesome. The wheels, the color, the carbon fork, it's all beautiful. Second, it was so light weight compared to the Kaitai (which has the disk breaks and suspension with added weight). Given that I live three flights of stairs in an apartment, the extra light weight is a life saver. Even with my extra large bike build, I can move this guy around with one arm extremely easily. Going up stairs is almost like you got two bags of groceries in your hand.

But what about the ride? That's also excellent. Although the bike seat is a bit small/firm, combine it with any pair of cycling shorts will give you all the comfort you need for 20-30 mile rides. I commute daily 3 miles one way with this bike, and I just go in my regular work clothes. Riding is effortless too, this really does feel like a road bike with the exception being a flat handle bar. It's fairly easy to ride 17-18mph without much effort. You might be about 1-2 mph slower than someone on a pure road bike, but you can certainly keep up if you're in good shape.

Overall, I'm so happy with my purchase I can't imagine worrying about considering another commuter bike. Of course, unless it gets stolen :) Which gets me to this -- the wheels on this thing look really awesome, so they're probably likely to get yanked. Invest in a good u-lock!

Bottom Line:

Amazing commuter bike, keeps up fairly well with road bikes, comfortable for short rides, looks amazing. No issues!
