A sheriff from San Diego in the newscast remarked that more people have been evacuated now than from Hurricane Katrina. Looks like they've stopped the fire from spreading South and West, but now the fire is starting to push again to the East apparently.

Apparently fire on the north end of the base is under control.
Fire on the south is not.
So people towards the south (such as in Oceanside), likely can't evacuate in that direction yet.
