Sometimes the 3rd gear in the honda civic si will grind in and even pop. Here is a discussion about this issue on edumonds. Honda has released a techincal bullitin to resolve the issue, but there is no official recall.

Well, after getting the car I realize that sometimes the 3rd gear in the civic si is difficult to engage. If I'm really aware that i'm putting it in, sometimes I can feel like I get past the inital 'wall', and get in. But when I'm a little less careless, it starts to grind. Oh well, maybe it's time to go to use that warranty :) Luckily, it doesn't pop out, but I'm somewhat sad that I have an issue with a car that's not exactly super cheap.
So if you're interested in getting your gearing fixed at a honda dealership, make sure you point them to the TSB (techincal service bulletin).
